About Athens' Own

The Mission of Athens' Own is to provide individualized marketing and distribution for quality, ecologically balanced, and community-made merchandise.

Athens' Own will empower the community by providing an opportunity for members to employ their passions.

We work to offer community connections for education, fitness, health, arts music, food, clothes and other community propelled ideas, all of which operate in an environmentally conscientious manner.

Athens' Own is a company established for the community in an effort to enhance the quality of living for all people.

We welcome your ideas, input and support!

Athens' Own strives to create a quality community through a large-scale shift in the concept of business.

Unfortunately, for-profit business often has negative effects on local and global communities with regard to the economy and environment.

Athens' Own is an ongoing template for a structure in which business and community work hand-in-hand toward long-term sustainable goals.

Founder and manager Constantine Faller first began to piece together ideas for this template in 2000.

A year later, he and a friend founded Dawn Chorus Coffee. In addition to supplying the Athens community with high quality coffee, Dawn Chorus allowed the vision of Athens' Own to manifest with an internal client that allowed for experimentation.

Thus, Athens' Own began as a marketing and distribution tool, with Dawn Chorus Coffee as the first product in 2001.

Since then, Athens' Own has taken on several other clients and continues to work toward building a stronger community while providing local businesses and entrepreneurs with the necessary support to get their goods and services to the public. Additionally, Athens' Own works with sustainability-minded businesses from other communities to provide high quality merchandise that would otherwise be unavailable to the Athens Area.

Beyond business, Athens' Own is dedicated to creating and supporting programs that embrace education, wellness and the arts within the community.

The vision and template is constantly expanding. Currently, there are a few dedicated volunteers working to spread the Athens' Own dream. However, the long-term goal is to provide living wage jobs for community members. We are currently accepting applications from individuals interested in participating as interns, and always appreciate the efforts of volunteers.
